  •  1. Preparation:
  • Inspect the Shell and Tube Bundle: Ensure both components are clean and free from any debris or damage.
  • Check Dimensions: Verify that the dimensions of the shell and tube bundle match the design specifications.
  • Tools and Equipment: Gather the necessary tools such as hoists, cranes, lifting slings, and safety gear.
  • 2. Lifting the Tube Bundle:
  • The tube bundle is typically heavy and requires proper lifting techniques to prevent damage.
  • Use a crane or hoist to carefully lift the tube bundle, ensuring the lifting equipment is rated for the weight.
  • 3. Positioning the Tube Bundle:
  • Align the Tube Bundle: The tube bundle should be aligned with the shell’s opening. Sometimes, it is necessary to tilt the bundle slightly to fit it into the shell.
  • Guides or Skids: Use guides or skids to help with the alignment and smooth insertion.
  • 4. Insertion:
  • Slowly lower the tube bundle into the shell, ensuring that it is aligned correctly with the baffles and supports within the shell.
  • Make sure the tubes do not touch the walls of the shell to avoid potential damage.
  • If necessary, use a gentle rocking motion or other techniques to ensure the bundle slides smoothly into place.
  • 5. Securing the Tube Bundle:
  • Once the bundle is inside the shell, ensure that the tubes are correctly positioned on the tube supports and baffles.
  • Secure the tube bundle using the tie rods, clamps, or other mechanisms provided by the design.
  • Verify the tube bundle is stable and evenly supported.
  • 6. Final Inspection:
  • Check for any misalignments, damaged tubes, or other issues that could affect the heat exchanger’s performance.
